Building Habits With Low-Effort Oncers
Developing a new habit - or fixing an old one - can be a struggle for me. Especially if I set the bar too high. This is how I came up with the idea of low-effort oncers: goals I can achieve at least once in a set time, without much effort. The trick is setting the bar so low it feels the completion is almost inevitable.
Here’re some of my monthly oncers for 2026:
- Publish one blog post
- Read one book
- Go for one long run
- Make one call to a distant friend
- Cook one new dish
- Create one non-commercial artwork
- Do one thing differently
- Observe one Digital Shabbath
- Review this list once on the 15th
Each one feels totally doable, almost effortless, and just a bit exciting.
So far, one point is already checked off for January.
