FONOS is a concrete bluetooth speaker. Its design, inspired by ancient Roman architecture (Romans used concrete extensively from 300 BC to 476), is conditioned to conduct a sense of foreverness and antiquity. The speaker and the packaging is mostly made from organic materials such as concrete, sand, wood and paper, which could be easily decomposed. Along with its primary function, which is playing music wireless, it is designed to become an uncommon piece of decoration, an ode to the advanced ideas and technologies of ancient times.
This project was done within a Design Fundamentals II class at UCLA Extension in 2019, instructed by Henry Matheo.
